What are the mountains like?


(palm harbor, FL)

I live in FL and really love Asheville, NC but think it's a bit to small as far as jobs. Knoxeville looks nice, bigger but not too big of a city. I just want to make sure the mountains are still close and in view. Planning on a trip there in a few weeks.

Asheville has a much better glimpse of the mountians, mostly because there are mountians in all directions. On the contrary Knoxville still has a very pleasant view of the Smokies. West Knox has both views of the Smokies and the Cumberland Mountains (Pickett State PArk).

I recently visited Asheville feeling as if i was in the mountains. Knoxville has a more open feeling to it. By no means am i suggesting the the Knoxville area to be flat, it is indeed very hilly - less the close proximity of surrounding mountians

Asheville is a very easy scenic two hour drive from Knoxville - Hope this helps!
