Waterfront Knoxville Tennessee

If you searched for waterfront Knoxville Tennessee to find waterfront real estate, I'll start you off with two great recommendations:

Volunteer Landing, 610 South Gay Street: The Waterfront, is a beautiful new development of townhomes overlooking the Tennessee River and downtown Knoxville. Close at hand are all the shopping, food and entertainment of downtown, and there are boat slips for docking your luxury craft.

Rarity Bay is Knoxville waterfront living at its best.

Located at 1500 Rarity Bay Parkway, Vonore, TN, it is on the south-west end of Knoxville, and offers some of the most beautiful waterfront property and homes in East Tennessee. Golf, parks, trails and more are all part of this master planned community.

Here's more information on Knoxville Real Estate, if that's what you came here for.

But I invite you to stay a while, and share a few of my favorite things about living by or just visiting the waterfront of Knoxville, Tennessee.

The words "waterfront Knoxville Tennessee" conjure up memories of my childhood on the Clinch River, where I grew up water skiing, jumping off of cliffs and other high objects, swimming, canoeing, paddling, fishing and generally loving the rivers, streams and lakes of East Tennessee.

The following list doesn't include everything you can do for water fun in and around Knoxville, but it's a darn good start!

Tennessee Houseboat Rentals

Renting a houseboat, ski boat, jet ski, pontoon boat...any or all of the above are a great idea for an afternoon or weekend of water fun.

The Tennessee River, Clinch River, and Noris Lake are just a few places where you can be sure to find places to rent water vehicles. Renting a boat can be a wonderful, fun, relaxing experience for you and your family, and you don't have to do the upkeep afterwards!

White Water Rafting

For my fun-seeking waterfront Knoxville Tennessee friends, what you want is a trip down the Ocoee River (where the 1996 Atlanta Olympic river games where held) just south of Knoxville, or maybe tubing down the Pigeon River in Gatlinburg.

There's nothing quite like floating leasurly -- or paddling very actively! -- down a cold stream surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains and natural scenery in the world!

Just sitting on the dock

All the active water sports aside, my absolute favorite water memories are of sitting on my parent's dock with friends.

Whether we were fishing, swimming, taking a leasurely paddle in a canoe, or just laying in the sun, it was heaven.

My recommendation to you is to find a friend or two who lives on a Knoxville lake or river, and get yourself invited over for anything.

Assume you should bring a bathing suit -- even if it's a black-tie affair!

I'll see you at the dock. I'll be the guy with a big smile on his face and my pants rolled up...dangling my feet in the cool, slowly-moving water and sipping some tasty drink.
