Me and my 3 dogs Sierra, Coda, Chloe

Waggy Tails of Knoxville pet sitting is my grand entrepreneurial adventure that includes one of my greatest loves in life - animals and my desire to create my own work from home business.

In college I majored in elementary education and soon found myself teaching in an elementary classroom in Knox County Schools. When I first decided to go into teaching my main reasons were #1. I can be around others' kids until I have some of my own and #2. The hours and schedule are good for a family ... neither of which are the best of reasons to become a teacher. I soon realized that my real goal in life is to own my own business that will allow me to make enough money to allow me to be a Stay at Home Mom when that time in my life comes.

So while still teaching I decided to slowly work on opening my own pet sitting business, Waggy Tails of Knoxille. With no previous business training I jumped right in, reading all that I could on business, marketing, and pet sitting blogs on the internet. Soon I had learned how to create a webpage for my business, start Twittering, create a Facebook page, how to get my link on the first page of Google search results, and a trial and error form of advertising. I joined online dog forums, become a member of local networking systems, and handed out business cards left and right. It has been quite a journey and I'm really just getting started.

My hard work is starting to pay off as I spend my afternoons meeting with new clients or taking dogs on walks. I love visitings my clients' pets and just having the opportunity to give them some love and exercise while their owners are away. My business has grown in leaps and bounds as I have become licensed with the city and bought insurance and bonding. Waggy Tails of Knoxville still havs a long way to go, but I'm learning more everyday, meeting more adorable pets, and gaining a great reputation. I'm definitely headed down the right road!

Cool biz story, Summer, and thanks so much for sharing! Sweet pic of you and the doggies, too -- you gotta love the pups. :)

Best of luck to you!
