The Country Kitchen

The following Knoxville Business Mom and Pop story was submitted by Lynda L.

The Country Kitchen is a small Mom and Pop restaurant serving home-cooked breakfasts and lunches seven days a week. It is located at 1108 Beaumont Ave, off of the I-275 W. Baxter Avenue exit, just outside of Downtown Knoxville.

I enjoy eating breakfast at the Country Kitchen nearly every day. Becky, the friendly morning waitress, always smiles and greets each customer with a warm hello. She can usually remember your favorite drink and breakfast order once you've been there a time or two. Mick offers a hearty hello from the kitchen as he looks up from flipping pancakes and frying eggs.

Food for the body is only one type of nourishment to be found here. The owners of this little restaurant are actively involved in the local community, and make it a personal goal to better their neighborhood. They host fund raisers for ill patrons having trouble affording medical bills; throw a Christmas Party each year for local under-privileged children – complete with Santa Claus and presents; and are always seen lending a helping hand to those in need.

There are many people, like myself, who are drawn to the atmosphere of this restaurant. Patrons often linger and chat with those at neighboring tables, sharing small talk, stories and enjoying the company. Friendships are formed here, support is offered, and there's always a good joke to be heard.

This environment could never be duplicated in a restaurant chain where the primary focus is on the bottom line!

The unique blend of good southern home cooking and personal care and attention given by the staff of this small Mom and Pop operation leaves each of its patrons feeling special, cared for and uplifted.

Now when was the last time you heard someone say that about IHOP?
