Singing is My Kid Business
by Shelby Lynn Christian
(Oakpark, Michigan)
Hi my name is Shelby Lynn Christian, and I am 11 years old. I can really sing, but who would believe a kid - am I right?
I made up a song. It's called Mean People, and it's in the right tone. I hope you believe me. Only my mom and the people at my church heard me, and they think I sing really good.
My mom takes me to a lot of singing contests but they all said that I am too young.
But one day I went to this singing contest and they said I could make it to the next round, but I could not go because it cost 10,000. My mom has to save that for college, so I could not go.
But I'll make it some day. Well, I hope that you love my story. Thank you!

Hello Shelby, and thank you for sharing your kid's business story!
How about it Kid-Stormers readers -- do you have any suggestions how Shelby could make a business of singing at 11 years old?
I think you could make a web site blog where you talk about the pros and cons of the different contests you enter and about trying to become a professional singer as an 11-year-old.
Who knows? You might be able to make some money from that that would help to pay for singing lessons and entering contests.
I think your mom was right not to spend $10,000 on a singing contest. Keep on trying, and you'll keep on getting closer to your goal!
What ever you do, good luck, and thanks again for sharing your kid's business story!
