Register for the Knoxville Kid's Marathon!

Hurry! The Cariten Health Knoxville Marathon Kid’s Run Starts Soon!
Soon? But the Cariten Health Knoxville Marathon isn’t until March 30, 2008, so just why is the Kid’s Run urgent now? The run for kids actually starts long before Marathon race day. The Kid’s Run is 1.2 miles the day of the race but it really is the completion of a marathon for kids done in segments over a long time before the race. Participants will run 25 miles between registration and race day to total a standard 26.2 mile marathon distance.
The time to register is now because the segment logs are available December 1st and that is just around the corner. You can simply register on Marathon day and do the 1.2 mile run, but the fee is cheaper before February 15th and you get the chance to run or walk the 25 miles to complete the race. This unique way of segmenting a marathon makes it possible for nearly any child and helps build self-esteem, fitness and self-discipline.
All participants receive a race shirt, and you can also buy training shirts and socks on the Marathon website. Early and regular registration for kids, including a shirt, is only $15. Tie this to a new pair of running shoes and it could be part of a cool Christmas gift that is actually healthy for kids. Think of it as an antidote for game boxes.
