New Knoxville Band Plays Startling Variety

by Neil Gillespie
(Knoxville, TN)

Knoxville June 12. Louisville Landing's Dockside Grill patrons were treated to the energetic and masterful sounds of Northshore, a band that sequestered away for a few months to compile an incredibly diverse repertoire. There was plenty to like about their performance on Saturday night.

Northshore played a stunning variety of covers from soulful R&B sounds like Jame's Brown's "I Got You" to rock classics from Heart and Santana plus Jazzy favorites like Moondance and a rousingly funky version of "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone".

Northshore features the powerful vocals of Hannah Dauven, who is also a soprano in the Knoxville Opera. Hannah treated the crowd to songs like Pat Benatar's"Hit Me With Your Best Shot", Roxette's "Listen To Your Heart" and Joss Stone's "Super Duper Love". But Northshore also features former award winning Notre Dame jazz keyboardist Neil Gillespie providing brass section, strings, synthesizer, Hammond organ and piano sounds. Local veteran Stan Gibert lays down the band's driving bass and male lead vocals, backed by by the energy of rock steady Ben Landers on drums and the newest band member, Bryce Russell on Guitar.
