I had the good fortune to meet Mando Saenz this evening when he stopped in Knoxville for an intimate Wednesday night gig at Manhattan's.

A Nashville-based rock-country singer songwriter with Tex-Mex roots, Saenz (pronounced like 'signs'), recently recorded his sophomore release with Carnival Recording. I got an advance copy, and it's one hell of a good album!

Saenz' delivery is at once soft and confident, with strong melodies, thoughtful lyrics and a sound that's not country, not rock, not folk, but immediately reminiscent of all three.

The word is that Mando Saenz will be stopping in Knoxville for regular gigs as he grows some new Southern roots. I believe Knoxville music goers will enjoy what he has to offer.
