Love the Winter? How About Holidays on Ice?
by Lyanna
It is time once again for the annual feast of holiday spirit otherwise known as Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice.
This is the 3rd year of the full-sized ice rink in the center of the Market Square District and all its holiday decorations. There is something for everyone to love: skating with Santa, work off those turkey dinners with fitness skating, pal around with the ice Bears and their mascot, have coffee and curl to your hearts content, or, if you don’t know how to skate, learn!
To skate you must participate in another tradition of sorts of this modern era: liability waivers. These can be downloaded from Knoxville’s Holidays on ice website and filled out beforehand, so no more standing around and borrowing a pen from fellow skaters while your time to skate dribbles away.
The festivities start Friday, November 23rd and run through Tuesday, January 1st. Admission is very reasonable, with adults being $7.00, kids 10 and under $5.00 and include admission, skates and the inevitable sales tax. Dates and times are: 11/23 10am-10pm; 11/24-12/22 M-Th 5 pm-9 pm, Fri 5pm-10pm, Sat 10am-10pm and Sun 12pm-6pm; 12/24 12pm-5pm; closed 12/25; and 12/23-1/1 M-F 12p-10p, Sat 10am-10pm and Sun 12pm-6pm.
So go downtown, enjoy the lights, drink some hot cocoa and traverse the frozen water in style!
