Once he got into the research, he realized that children needed a fun and interesting way to learn about the Negro and Latin leagues so the history wouldn't be lost. Fast forward to the present. The game is almost finished, and it's creating quite a buzz. The game tells the little-known story of the Negro and Latin baseball leagues from 1865 to 1955. The men who played baseball in these leagues did so because they loved the game, and the way they played the game changed "The National Passtime" forever. I've been talking with Rick about the game and its progress towards completion for the last 5 years, and his enthusiasm for and belief in the project has always been contageous. Now finally in the home stretch, he's got a lot of success to be excited about in addition to his enthusiasm for the game's subject matter. "We are moving towards the final tooling of the game pieces: pewter tokens, refreshment stands and Championship flags. "Southern Living Magazine just finished a photo shoot of the Maryville College baseball team with Webb School of Knoxville, Austin East and Vine Middle students playing the game. "The Southern Living nationwide article is expected in a late July or August issue. Knoxville Enlightener (a regional black newspaper) did an article on the game, too." Pre orders of the game have come from: the Dr. Martin Luther King Historical site, the National Park Service, the Rosa Parks Museum, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, the Beck Cultural Exchange Center, the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation and the Tennessee State University Book store. "We are also in final discussions with Chattanooga African American Museum. Birmingham Civil Rights Museum, Chattanooga Public School system, the Tuskegee Gift Shop and Rickwoold Field; and National School Products of Maryville is considering placing the game in their worldwide ordering catalog. "Our ultimate goal is to have Legends of the Game in every American History and Social Studies classroom in the country."Towards this end, the Knox County school system has approved the game for the school system and Nashville Public schools are moving in the same direction. To inquire how you can order this game for your family or classroom, contact Mr. Mosley through his email, kjv55 @ comcast.net (you'll have to correct the "@" for this email to work).
