Your Knoxville Vacation Itinerary

This Knoxville vacation plan is obviously just one of many possibile trips you can take. But I invite you to use the basics of this plan to make your own Knoxville vacation a special one for you and your family.

Enjoy!

I recommend you stay in the Cumberland House Hotel or the Hotel St. Oliver. Both are excellently located, and both offer their own special version of Knoxville's Southern hospitality.

After enjoying your room for the evening, if you stay in Cumberland House, eat a nice breakfast in their upscale restaurant, MK's.

If you stay in Hotel St. Oliver, take the nice walk down Market Square to the Market Square Kitchen, where Souther cooking and hospitality are served 7 days a week.

After breakfast, walk Market Square Mall and Gay Street. Shop for art prints at Yee-Haw Industries, or treat yourself to wonderful confections at South's Finest Chocolate Factory.

See the Knoxville Museum of art, or any of the other 90-plus museums and cultural organizations in Knoxville.

If the weather is warm, let your kids (or yourself!) play in the fountains at World's Fair Park or those in Market Square, or on the River Walk, and then clean up for a nice dinner and drinks at Tomato Head, Nama or Sapphire, and cap off your evening with a show at the Tennessee Theatre.

All this within a few blocks of your hotel!

Other suggestions:

  • Take a ride on the Three Rivers Rambler, the authentic steam engine excursion train; or float away on the Star of Knoxville Riverboat; both leave from the Tennessee River Volunteer Landing.
  • Go to the award-winning Knoxville Zoo. It's just minutes from downtown, and has been voted the "best place to take children" in East Tennessee, and the "best tourist attraction" in Knoxville.
  • Tour the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Kids and women's basketball fans alike will enjoy this unique museum.
  • Visit Smoky Mountains National Park. The natural beauty of the park is stunning, and it's free!
  • Go see a Knoxville Ice Bears professional hockey game or AA professional baseball game at Smoky's Stadium in Sevierville.
  • If you like being around a spirited bunch, go to a UT athletics event. It's a great crowd experience!

As I said above, this is just a small taste of what's available for your Knoxville Vacation.
