Business for Kids: Make and Sell Your Own Wrapping Paper

One fun way to make a little extra money is to create and sell your own wrapping paper.

You can purchase white craft paper at a local crafts store, and then cover it with your own designs!

You can use crayons, markers, paints, stamps, paper cut-outs, fabrics, or stencils to put your designs on the paper.

Try making your designs match up with reasons for giving gifts: for Christmas, your wrapping paper could have trees, snowmen, stars, etc. on it.

Learn how to make bows, and you can sell bows to match your paper as well.

Business for Kids: Make Pen and Pencil Holders

by MB

Kid's can make pen and pencil holders by covering empty canned food cans with decorative paper such as gift wrap or wallpaper remnants. There is virtually no overhead - just pay for the glue.

An enterprising child whose parents have a nice computer, digital camera and good printer at home can even take pictures of other people's children, home, garden, dog, cat, etc., and put those on the pen and pencil covers too.

For best effect, glue a colored craft paper or gift wrap on the inside of the can, too.

Business Ideas for Kids: Fun Notepad Sales

by Sam
(Stoughton, Wisconsin, USA)

What is fun and easy to do, is to get a fun stamp (or two) and a box of note pads from your local business supply store, and then go and stamp the pages of the notebook with the stamp.

You can then give them to your parents to sell at their work, or you can sell them to your friends and family.

If you like crafty projects, you can also make your own ink stamps by carving them from small linoleum blocks, and so you'll be making a custom art note pad!

You can even make your own paper from recycled paper that you collect...the different spins you can put on this kid's business idea are endless!

Have fun!!

Business Ideas for Kids: Jewelry Making

by AC

Jewelry Making for kids:

It's pretty easy to make simple, yet elegant, costume jewelry.

Take a look at a local craft store and ask them about beading bracelets and earrings.

You can get all of the supplies at any Michael's or online on Ebay.

My personal favorites are pieces made of Swarovski beads, but that's just me. They have some really nice beads, and if you have an eye for design, you should be able to come up with lots of neat patterns!

Oh, also, a good online shop is harlequinbeads.com.

Kids Business News: Custom Jewelry Sells Big

by Jeff
(Winnipeg, Manitoba,Canada)

A great and easy idea for a child to make into a business is creating their own custom jewelry.

My cousin who is only 11 bought a jewelry making kit for like $20.00. The kit was easy to use, contained all the accessories she needed, and in no time, she had made a few unique and personalized pieces of jewelry.

They caught many people's eyes, including my own.

She then took the jewelry and sold it to help raise money for both her school and her church.

With her mom's help, she also sold some of her jewelry online for profit. Although this idea might not be for every child, one who is creative enough should make this idea flourish!

Business for Kids: Make Your Own Card Factory

by Anna Bell
(Bloomington, IN)

Adults always need greeting cards to give to their friends.

You can buy a big box of blank cards with envelopes at any store and decorate them for all different occasions like holidays and birthdays.

Show off your cards to family and neighbors. They will love to buy homemade cards from you instead of boring ones from the store!

Cards normally go for $3 to $5 dollars in the store, so you can give them a bargain at $1 a card and still make lots of money and have fun to boot!

Business for Kids: Make Origami

My child is very artistic. She is in kindergarten currently.

In her art classes, she often makes complicated paper foldings, which draw the other kids' attention.

Recently, she decided to sell her paper foldings for a small amount of money. She has already made five dollars in the past few days!

Kidstormer Business: Handprints Are Forever

by Mariko
(Philippines)

The parent/guardian of the "business child" has to initially invest in a lamination machine (nope, they don't really cost that much!).

Then a small neighborhood stall can be opened, and for all the special days (Thanksgiving day, birthdays, Valentine's day, etc.), handprints of all parent/guardians and children can be made with colored construction paper and acrylic paint, and laminated.

Your son or daughter can make it even nicer by putting pictures of the hand print people in with the hand prints.

This will be almost all profit after the lamination machine has been paid for.

Photography

by kylee
(Oregon)

Im not sure cause i havnt tried it but im sure it will work!

Answer: Hi Kylee! I hope it does work for you to have a photography business. Do you already have a camera? Have you thought about how you might make money? Maybe you could take portrait photographs of people's pets in your neighborhood. Put them in the picture with a fun bunch of toys or other props, and sell a good picture for $5, or something like that. Good luck!

Kidstorming: Kid's Cards for Fun and Profit

by Pat F.
(USA)

Wouldn't I look purrrrfect on a custom Christmas Card?

Wouldn't I look purrrrfect on a custom Christmas Card?

The holidays are here, and with the season comes greeting cards, gift tags and thank you notes.

What could be cooler than a custom made card or gift label? How about this: custom-made cards by your son or daughter!

If you have access to a computer and a printer, you can make greeting cards in a flash and sell them to friends, family, and neighbors. Of course, you can have fun using some of your great designs for your own lists, too.

Using Paint or other software, you can create cards from scratch and if you want you can add glitter or puff paint or anything else to make them even more special. Ribbon and lace and tinsel are all possibilities; you can use paint, stencils or stamps to decorate cards as well. The only rules being: let your child be creative and let her have fun!

Handmade greeting cards with lots of detail usually will sell for at least a dollar a card, or more.

Your investment won’t be much if you have art supplies: just some heavier paper that will run through your printer, and envelopes to fit your cards, but you can make those, too.

You can even sign up to print customized stamps right on the envelopes using stamps.com!
Be sure to charge for the postage and a little extra for your time, of course.

For after Christmas or Hanukkah, you can offer thank you cards to make that chore easier. Learn how to use Mail Merge and you can provide a customer with envelopes already addressed with a custom “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” stamp if they give you their mailing list.

All they have to do is write a little note and they are done. Your child's customers will be thrilled with the ease of this year's 'thank you' notes, and the receivers of the notes will love the special thanks as well.

Extra tip: Show your city pride and use pictures of Knoxville in your designs! Or use the logo for your favorite Vols team as a special accent for sports lovers in your life.

You don’t have to be another Van Gogh to design cards. You can find thousands of free cards online to download for customizing or just printing and selling or using. Here are some links to get you started:
