Glass Artist Irish K. Money
by Karen Money

Etched Focus Point 3' x 3 1/2' Free Form Mosaic
I have been working in the field of sand-carved glass for twenty years. It all started with a small glass etching kit. And it quickly became an obsession.
This obsession for glass developed into the more complicated art glass designs I do today. They are composed of multi-dimensional or free form mosaics, combined with sand-carved glass, stained glass, and anything I want to put in them. Often the there is a focal piece of glass that is sand-carved and hand painted.
In the past, I have heard people say if you do art glass then you don't draw. SO WRONG. Drawing is the backbone of all of my art glass! Every design starts with a pen and ink sketch. Then my drawing becomes a sandblasting pattern, and is fitted into my design concept. Then I work it into a mosaic design, stained glass piece or a carved clear glass panel. It is like doing a giant jig saw puzzle. If you would like to see how I work, visit my website at http://www.irishksm.com Check out my PROJECT TABLE page. It shows step by step the latest piece I am working on.
My personnel art objective...
I want my ART GLASS to make you
STOP, LOOK, and WONDER!
How did I physically create this art glass?
Why did I choose those particular colors?
Why did I display the subject in that way?
Can you interpret my intended meaning?
Hopefully, for a moment in a busy day, you will relax and forget this troubled world.
PERHAPS EVEN SMILE!
MY GLASS GOES OUTSIDE THE BOX to CREATE A WHOLE NEW BOX!
