Downtown Knoxville Restaurants

There are so many good Downtown Knoxville restaurants that it would take too much room to give them all justice on this page. So I'm going to pick my favorite 10, and list them in alphabetical order. Many of the
Knoxville night clubs
I listed also have great food, so you might look there if you don't find what you want here.OK, I know I said alphabetical order, but we all have our favorites, and Tomato Head, 12 Market Square, has long been on top of my downtown list. It serves gourmet pizza, salad and sandwiches at reasonable prices, and its location on market square and friendly, quirky staff make for a wonderful downtown meal. Now on to alphabetical order -- for the rest of my favorites! Calhoun's On the River, 400 Neyland Drive, boasts once having won the honor of "Best Ribs in America." Their ribs are definitely lip-smacking, and the view of the Tennessee River is lovely. Chesapeak's, 500 Henley Street, is my wife's favorite seafood in town. Try their crab cakes, shrip bisque, or whatever strikes your fancey -- it's all wonderful! The Lunchbox, 800 S Gay Street, is only open for lunch. This downtown Knoxville restaurant serves great daily specials, along with regular favorites. I worked here as a server one summer, and grew (10 pounds worth!) very fond of the food. The Market Square Kitchen, 1 Market Square, is open for breakfast and lunch only. Their comfort food and friendly service will make you smile. Nama Sushi Bar, 135 S Gay Street, is fantastic if you like sushi. It's small and popular, so don't be in a hurry. Pasta Trio, 119 S Central Street, is an inexpensive, old-school Italian Restaurant. "Pick a Pasta, Pick a Sauce, Pick a Meat." Like Italian? You'll love it. Patin's Field of Greens, 205 Union Avenue, offers gourmet salads, soups and sandwiches. Perhaps the smallest of downtown Knoxville Restaurants, their dine-in area is for only 10 people, but they offer take out, and deliver to hotels for $30 or more orders. Regas, 318 N Gay Street, is the godfather of Downtown Knoxville restaurants. Dress up, bring a date, and please pay my respects for me. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, 950 Volunteer Landing, is a popular restaurant on the Tennessee River. The view, the patio, the architecture, and the food can make for a very nice evening.
