Teep Phillips on the WDVX Blue Plate Special
Terry Phillips, Also known as "Teep", is a musician living and working in the hills of East Tennessee. Teep's been playing, singing, and writing songs since he was 10 years old, and at the ripe young age of 53, he has seen no reason to stop now.
He first started out playing in a few high school groups (one of which Luke Brunson was once a member and good colleague), and he was first recorded with a Christian college youth group THE NATURAL HIGH SINGERS in 1970.
The Beatles being one of his many favorites that have actually had influence in his music and career. He has music available for listening at teeper.org. Click on his jukebox, which has a bit more in the way of actual songs performed with a few friends he has known down through the years.
In his musical career, Teeps had the good fortune of working with local artists ranging from folk-rockers: Rhodes & Rhodes, to acoustic songwriters like Sam Lewis, to bluesmen of such disparate styles as Kirk Fleta and Joe King; even jazz songstress Sara Schabe has made use of his talents occasionally. He's been heavily involved in the recording of two albums (the second one is forthcoming) with the eclectic folk-rockers THE NEAR HISTHS, of which he remains a proud member.
